Jimmy's Favorite Sites

At www.wheresgeorge.com you can figure out literally how far your money will go. This clever site lets you trace the location history of some of your currency. You enter the currency denomination, the series and the serial number and in some cases you find a complete travel history of the bill. The site makes additional computations like days in transit and miles traveled and mile per day. You can start a currency journey by logging in your bills. I wonder what the probability is of getting the same bill back in the future. My personal misfortune is that my money never returns, but this site makes it fun to see how far it will go, literally.

Do you ever have the desire to go back to nature, hang out in the woods for a weekend but just can’t bear to be without all the niceties of home? You might want to check out www.cabins.com/eastern.html. Cabins and chalets from Maine to Florida are listed and linked for review and reservations. It might be too late for the fall but it is the right time to plan for the spring.

I haven’t discussed telephone calling over the internet (Voice Over Internet, VoIP) recently although new products and companies enter the market daily. Vonage.com and Sunrocket.com are two companies that seemed committed to this technology and their products are available to anyone with a broadband connection and the hardware attachments. If you aren’t ready for that kind of commitment then you might want to review the calling feature that is now integrated into the Microsoft MSN Messenger service or go to www.skype.com for a free worldwide calling service. Skype reports that 196 million people have downloaded their software at this writing. Skype should make you a believer in this technology.

With all the new and updated software that becomes available daily, there is at least one thing that always delays or prevents a purchase and that is the price. How does a full version of Adobe Acrobat 7.0 at $119.95 versus $449.95 or Adobe Creative Suite C2 for $389.95 versus $1,199.95 sound? If this kind of discount appeals to you and you are a teacher or student then you have to visit www.academicsuperstore.com. The offerings are astounding and all products, with few exceptions, are complete programs priced for academics. Even Microsoft has an academic version of the Office Suite on the shelf similarly priced. Why pay retail?
