Mi Casa Es Su Casa
There are many words in the
English language that come
from Spanish—tomato (from
tomate), cockroach (from cucaracha),
cafeteria (from café), and
ranch (from rancho).
Did you know it also works the
other way around? Many English
words have found their way
into the Spanish language. The
spelling and pronunciation may
change, but the words are recognizable.
If you pick up a Spanish
newspaper and look at the sports
pages, you will see articles on
béisbol, fútbol, or basquetbol.
They may describe how a certain
pitcher gave up a jonrón. Or,
perhaps how a boxeador scored
a knock-out in el último round.
